Message from the Principal
Recently I talked with a retired teacher who now spends much of his time writing inspirational books and giving inspirational speeches. He loves teaching, and serves as a guest or substitute teacher for schools in the area where he lives. Since he also has a strong faith and believes in encouraging others, he had bracelets made with the initials G L Y and gives them out to people. On one of his recent assignments the Principal of the school told him he could not hand out any more bracelets. When asked why, she responded that they cross the line between the separation of church and state. Fortunately he is a scholar of constitutional history and was able to respond, to which she answered, “I’ve heard about you.”
To me this is a very sad commentary on today’s public school system. I am just thankful that those restrictions did not exist or were very limited during the years I was in the public school system.
It is because of restrictions and misplaced conceptions about the separation of church and state, that Christian Home & Bible School ‘s place has become even more important in the lives and education of our children. It must be a comfort to parents to know that your child(ren) are sitting in a place where God is mentioned numerous times throughout the day and that your child cannot only sing praises, but also pray without anyone saying ,”You can’t do that here.”
Parents, your children are a precious gift from God and our promise to you is that we will continue to work diligently to live up to our mission: Educating for Life and Eternity.
God Bless You,
Kay Kosko
